Three years later, Caboclo is still a mystery.
He has played just 106 NBA minutes – a week for many role players. Though he came on strong to end the D-League season, his time with Toronto’s affiliate has been more mixed.
This summer could have been a chance to see more of Caboclo, with Brazil in AmeriCup. But…
FIBA:The Brazilian squad decided to leave slender Small Forward Bruno Caboclo out of the roster after an alleged act of indiscipline, according to the National Team’s manager, Renato Lamas.
According to Lamas, Caboclo refused to enter the game twice after being told to do so by Coach César Guidetti.
“After some type of disappointment —to which I have no knowledge— he refused to return to the game after being summoned by the coach. For me, it’s an offense, a serious act of indiscipline,” said Lamas.
“We talked to him, but he refused again. We want players that want to be with the National Team... He’s leaving. He’ll be out for an undetermined amount of time,” Lamas added.
We still know so little about Caboclo, including his attitude. This isn’t the most encouraging sign, but it could also be an isolated incident – or even, potentially, a situation where he was in the right.
For his part, Caboclo apologized:
