Carmelo Anthony was from Baltimore until the Knicks traded for him.
Then, he was from Brooklyn.
Melo – who was born in Brooklyn and moved to Baltimore when he was 8 – will now have a teammate who knows the full story: DaJuan Summers, who was born in Baltimore and grew up idolizing Melo.

The Knicks have 13 players with guaranteed salaries plus Langston Galloway, who’s a lock to make the team. That leaves one regular-season roster spot for Summers, Thanasis Antetokounmpo, Travis Trice, Darion Atkins or Wesley Saunders.
Summers is the only one of the group with NBA experience, though he hasn’t exactly impressed in four seasons with the Detroit Pistons, New Orleans Hornets and Los Angeles Clippers. He’s fairly well-rounded, but he also lacks a niche. He hasn’t played in the league since 2013.
This could just be a way for the Knicks to stock their D-League affiliate, the Westchester Knicks. Summers is eligible to have his D-League rights assigned if New York waives him after training camp.
If Summers really wants to maximize his chances of making the parent club, he should stick with Melo’s spin.
