Manu Ginobili announced last month that he was planning to come back to the Spurs for one more season, and that didn’t change once Tim Duncan announced his retirement. The Spurs have finalized a spate of moves this week, including the signings of Pau Gasol and first-round pick Dejounte Murray. Now, they’re talking to Ginobili’s reps about a new deal for next season, and according to ESPN.com’s Marc Stein, it could be in the $10 million range.

It seems all but certain that the 2016-17 season will be Ginobili’s last. Considering he made $2.8 million next season, the salary they’re discussing would be a significant upgrade, and an appropriate thank-you to him. They’ve already made their moves for the summer and can go over the cap to re-sign Ginobili, so there’s no reason not to give him a big deal as a going-away present. We didn’t get the opportunity to see a Duncan farewell tour, but it’s looking like we’ll get one for Ginobili.
