Report: Stephen Curry had his All-Star weekend shoes stolen

NEW YORK -- Any player with a signature line of sneakers uses All-Star weekend to display the latest models and specially-designed player edition colorways.

It’s an important moment for any of the major shoe brands, considering the heavy amount of attention on the athletes as they perform on the very large All-Star weekend stage.

But for Under Armour and Stephen Curry, the opportunity to showcase their latest offerings almost went to waste.

From George Kiel III of Nice Kicks:

A trusted, unnamed source claims that Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry’s All-Star Weekend shoes were stolen in transit to Brooklyn yesterday. Steph was set to wear the “Candy Reign” Under Armour Curry One for the Foot Locker Three-Point Contest and the Charlotte Hornets-esque “Father to Son” pair for the Shooting Stars Competition.

“UA sent them out the quickest way possible as they usually do, but somehow the shoes magically went missing,” our source stated. “Steph almost missed a chance to debut his two favorite pairs this weekend, which would’ve have been a disaster.”

However, all is not lost, as our unnamed source says Curry will more than likely still wear those pairs, as UA acted fast by rushing up replacements.

Under Armour is just getting started on the basketball side, and trails the other major brands in both awareness and market share somewhat significantly. Having Curry not wearing something special this weekend would have been an important opportunity lost, but it appears as though (after a fair bit of scrambling) that things will go down as planned.
