Report: Stephen Curry won’t play for Team USA in Olympics

rwWHJPyNKsVb
Golden State's Stephen Curry discusses why the Splash Brothers' quiet production isn't as harmful as the casual fan may think and how contributions from everyone is what leads to consistency.

Stephen Curry says he’s undecided about playing the 2016 Rio Olympics.

The reality?

Marcus Thompson of Bay Area News Group:

According to multiple sources, Curry has already told USA Basketball he will not be playing for a gold medal.

Curry has played 193 games in the last two years, and there were minimal opportunities to coast this season. The Warriors had to go all out to win 73 games and break the Bulls’ record. Curry also just suffered a serious knee injury in the playoffs.

He needs a break.

With Chris Paul also withdrawing from consideration, the Americans are looking weaker at point guard. The onus falls to Russell Westbrook, and Kyrie Irving will also likely playing a big role on Mike Krzyzewski’s team. Damian Lillard and John Wall are in the mix, and if this were truly a meritocracy, Irving should be competing with them for two roster spots rather than Lillard and Wall for one.
