Stephen Curry played half a basketball game.
The Warriors are hoping that in a few months that will not be noteworthy, but it was the first time in seven months that Curry played a half of basketball Monday night, in a preseason game against the Jazz. He didn’t play the second half because of a coach’s decision.
Curry had just two points. Matt Steinmetz of CSNBayArea.com describes how it went.
He played a seven-minute stretch to start the game, then returned in the second quarter for an additional five minutes. He didn’t do anything mesmerizing or jaw-dropping, but he controlled the offense and found open teammates for easy buckets.
The Warriors are right to be conservative with him now, he may be able to go harder but be patient. Bottom line is they need him and center Andrew Bogut to stay healthy for around 70 games this season to have a real shot at the playoffs that they want. This was a step in that direction. We’ll see how many more steps he takes before the season starts.
