Warriors sign Phil Pressey, Elgin Cook and Cameron Jones

San Antonio Spurs v Phoenix Suns

The Warriors have just 14 players – one shy of the regular-season roster limit – with guaranteed salaries, so there’s a ticket available for the Latest Greatest Team Ever Assembled.

Golden State was already bringing JaVale McGee and Elliot Williams to training camp. The other players signed, according to Connor Letourneau of SFGate:

  • Phil Pressey
  • Elgin Cook
  • Cameron Jones

Pressey is the only one of the three latest additions with NBA experience, playing for the Celtics, 76ers and Suns the last three years. The Warriors could use a third point guard behind Stephen Curry and Shaun Livingston, and Pressey is the truest hope. He’s a pesky defender and willing, though often too daring, passer. With Andre Iguodala and Draymond Green excellent passers from the frontcourt and Williams a combo guard, Pressey still has his work cut out for him.

Cook, a 6-foot-6 forward, went undrafted out of Oregon this year. He’s a versatile defender, but his offensive improvement in college didn’t outpace the aging curve. He’s 23.

Jones spent a few seasons in the D-League, including with the Warriors’ D-League affiliate, then a couple years overseas after being undrafted out of Northern Arizona. A 6-foot-4 shooting guard, he’s also a longshot to make the team.
