The Mavericks have always been a team that’s liked to shoot the three under head coach Rick Carlisle, and this upcoming season should be no exception.
Dallas added Jose Calderon this summer, who led the league in three-point shooting percentage last year.
But another of the Mavs’ offseason acquisitions, Wayne Ellington, hopes his skill set can help that effort, as well.

Sneed of Mavs.com:“You know, Wayne is important, because knock-down shooting has become such a major part of this league and you’ve got to have guys that have to be guarded on the perimeter,” Carlisle explained when Ellington and the Mavs’ new additions were introduced to the Dallas fans and media last month.
“I’m bringing a long-range threat, and I’m a guy that’s going to work really hard on the defensive end of the floor,” Ellington added when addressing his role with the team during an interview with Mavs.com. “I’m a team player, unselfish, and I want to win. That’s what’s most important to me.”
The Mavericks were tied for 13th in three-point field goal attempts last year, but finished sixth in the league in percentage.
Ellington shot 39.2 percent from three-point distance last season, so if he continues at that mark or better, he should have no problem earning some playing time in the Dallas rotation next season.
