The Rockets won the big prize of the off-season... so what exactly did they win.
Coach Nick of BBallBreakdown does great work (like this video on Brandon Jennings) and he turned his lens toward Dwight Howard. He talks about things we have here — this move makes the Rockets much better defensively, he’s an upgrade in the post, and they Rockets should have a killer pick-and-roll.
What he brushes over is coach Kevin McHale’s biggest problem — Howard pushed back against playing the pick-and-roll for Mike D’Antoni in Los Angeles. If he does that in Houston he hurts the team and the Rockets’ chance at contending. We will see if everything he went through the last couple seasons matured Howard or not.
