Jim Buss said that he “likes” Robert Sacre and that he’s got a chance to make the team.
Sacre, a true 7-footer, has shown some nice tenacity in summer league and hasn’t backed down from the opposition. Given the Lakers’ limited financial flexibility, Sacre has a good chance of sticking as depth at the end of the bench.
  • CLE Center
    Lakers sign C Greg Somogyi.
He’ll be invited to training camp on a non-guaranteed deal. The undrafted UC Santa Barbara product obviously doesn’t project to crack the rotation at this point, but at least he has an opportunity. He’s 7'3" and the Lakers have also been noncommittal on second-round pick Robert Sacre, so it wouldn’t be a complete shock to see Somogyi make the team, but the L.A. Times called him the “longest of longshots” to make the final roster.

GM Mitch Kupchak is reportedly “noncommittal” on keeping second-round pick Robert Sacre.
Sacre, drafted No. 60 overall, is a true 7-footer who could serve as cheap frontline depth for the Lakers should they keep him. Jim Buss previously said that he liked Sacre’s chances of making the team, but as is usually the case for second round selections, Sacre will have to make a big impression in training camp to stick in Los Angeles.

With the final pick in the 2012 draft, the Lakers selected Gonzaga C Robert Sacre.
Sacre has good size and a clever array of back-to-the-basket moves, but there are tons of question marks surrounding his NBA abilities. He doesn’t belong on fantasy rosters.

Robert Sacre drew the start on Wednesday and scored eight points in 21 minutes against the Blazers.
He added three boards and a block, too. The back issues of Jordan Hill and Dwight Howard could make Sacre a plug-and-play center for owners in deep leagues.

The Lakers have officially assigned Robert Sacre to the Los Angeles D-Fenders of the D-League.
Barring major injuries in the Lakers’ frontcourt, there was no room for Sacre to have any sort of fantasy impact this year. He’ll get more minutes and a chance to develop in the NBA’s lower level.

    Lakers sign C Robert Sacre.
Even though the deal is non-guaranteed, Sacre has an outside shot at making the team with a strong training camp. He was drafted 60th overall in this year’s draft and, more recently, started all five games for the Lakers 2012 Summer League team in Las Vegas, averaging 9.0 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.0 blocks in 30.0 minutes. It’s safe to ignore Sacre in even the deepest fantasy leagues this season.
  • Point Guard #0
The Los Angeles Times believes that both Andrew Goudelock and rookie Darius Johnson-Odom are “longshots” to make the roster.
Goudelock isn’t a point guard and doesn’t have the size to play significant minutes at SG, so this isn’t entirely surprising. Johnson-Odom has great athleticism, but he was a second-round pick and the Lakers’ massive payroll is playing against both guys as each is on a non-guaranteed deal. Robert Sacre appears to be the favorite for the final spot.

Robert Sacre scored 13 points to go along with seven rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block against the Clippers on Wednesday.
Sacre got the start despite Jordan Hill returning from a back injury and made the most of it. His fantasy value is limited to deep leagues even if Hill and Dwight Howard continue to experience back issues.
  • MIN Center #27
Jordan Hill has a herniated disc in his back and will be evaluated next week.
A herniated disk could mean any number of things and usually they aren’t good. Earl Clark will step into a rotation slot and the odds of Robert Sacre making the team just got better, too.
