Former NBA star Vernon Maxwell is being held without bond in a Florida jail for violating terms of his probation on child support charges.
Maxwell turned himself into Alachua County authorities Sunday after a national warrant was issued for his arrest. He was charged with failing to pay the state for his supervision, possessing a controlled substance and failing to pay court-ordered child support after he was arrested in Mecklenberg County, N.C., in May of 2006 on drug possession charges. Maxwell is said to be more than $350,000 behind in child support payments and an arraignment date has been set for Sept. 6.
