Texans coach Bill O’Brien said TE C.J. Fiedorowicz has improved in the passing game.
“One of the things that you’ve seen him do during this offseason program is get better in the passing game,” O’Brien said. “He’s more instinctive. He knows the plays better. He’s a really, really hard worker.” A 2014 third-rounder, Fiedorowicz has just 21 career catches in 31 games. Even if he has shown improvement in the passing game, he is not going to be a fantasy option this season.
  • HOU Tight End #87
C.J. Fiedorowicz hauled in 4-of-8 targets for 61 yards Week 5 against the Vikings.
Fiedorowicz actually led the team in receiving and was basically the entire offense in the first half. Ryan Griffin exited with a neck injury in this game, and Stephen Anderson has been sidelined a couple weeks with a hamstring injury. If both sit out next week, Fiedorowicz will be an interesting streaming option in a great matchup with the Colts.
  • HOU Tight End #87
Texans OC George Godsey said TE C.J. Fiedorowicz’s pass-game role is expanding.
“He’s starting to contribute, coming up big multiple weeks in a row now with some multi-catch games. He’s defining his role a little more,” said Godsey. Fiedorowicz has went over 60 yards the last two games and caught the game-tying touchdown against the Colts on Sunday night. He’s clearly moved ahead of Ryan Griffin as one of Brock Osweiler’s preferred checkdowns. Fiedorowicz has some low-end streamer value, but shouldn’t be in Week 7 lineups against Denver.
  • HOU Tight End #87
C.J. Fiedorowicz exited Week 8 against the Lions to be evaluated for a concussion.
Lions S Tavon Wilson was flagged on the play for clearly targeting Fiedorowicz with a hit to the neck and head area on a pass down the seam. Fiedorowicz immediately grabbed his head, but eventually got up and ran to the locker room. Fiedorowicz caught two balls for 11 yards and a TD before leaving.
  • HOU Tight End #87
C.J. Fiedorowicz returned to Week 8 against the Lions after passing the concussion protocol.
He missed about half the second quarter after getting blown up by S Tavon Wilson.
  • HOU Tight End #87
Texans TE C.J. Fiedorowicz (sprained MCL) practiced on Wednesday.
It is not surprising considering he got back in the game Sunday after suffering the injury. He will likely play this week, but he is not a realistic fantasy option.
  • HOU Tight End #87
C.J. Fiedorowicz caught 6-of-7 targets for 85 yards and a touchdown in Houston’s Week 6 win over the Colts.
Fiedorowicz scored the game-tying touchdown with under a minute in the fourth quarter. He’s had at least seven targets the last two weeks and is the clear preferred option over Ryan Griffin. Fiedorowicz will be a low-end steamer for a Week 7 matchup with Denver.
  • HOU Tight End #87
Texans TE C.J. Fiedorowicz suffered a left MCL sprain in Sunday’s win over the Titans.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports the injury “could cause him to miss some time.” The Texans are already missing rookie TE Stephen Anderson (hamstring). Ryan Griffin should take over as the full-time tight end against the Vikings.
  • HOU Tight End #87
C.J. Fiedorowicz caught 3-of-5 targets for 26 yards in the Texans’ Week 10 win over the Jaguars.
This was not a good matchup for Fiedorowicz against a Jaguars defense that has effectively covered tight ends all season. He also got vultured near the goal line by No. 2 tight end Ryan Griffin. Fiedorowicz gets a better matchup when the Texans play the Raiders on Monday Night Football in Week 11.
  • HOU Tight End #87
C.J. Fiedorowicz caught 5-of-7 targets for 35 yards in the Texans’ Week 7 loss to the Broncos.
He again out-targeted Ryan Griffin 7-5 and has emerged as the Texans’ go-to tight end in the pass game. Fiedorowicz has now caught at least four passes in four-straight games and is averaging 6.25 targets per game in that span. But in an offense that isn’t scoring touchdowns, Fiedorowicz is hard to get excited about. He does get a luscious spot at home against the Lions in Week 8. The Lions entered Week 7 having surrendered the most fantasy points to tight ends.
