Bills hired former Panthers special teams coordinator Chris Tabor as their new special teams coordinator.
Tabor spent 2022-2023 as the Panthers special teams coordinator, also working as the team’s interim head coach after Frank Reich’s firing. He spent 2024 out of the NFL but now returns to join Buffalo as special teams coordinator.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the Panthers have informed interim HC/special teams coordinator Chris Tabor that he will not be retained.
Tabor stepped in as Carolina’s interim coach after the firing of Frank Reich. The special teams coach went 1-5 during his six-game stretch and was kept around at the end of the season while the team sought out a new head coach. The Giants requested an interview with Tabor earlier this month for their special teams coordinator vacancy, but the Panthers declined their request to speak with him. Tabor is expected to have plenty of opportunities on the open market now that he’s free to speak with other teams.
  • CAR Head Coach
The Panthers denied the Giants’ request to interview interim head coach Chris Tabor for their special teams coordinator vacancy.
Given that the move isn’t a promotion for Tabor, the Panthers exercised their right to turn down the request. Tabor remains in the running to be the full-time head coach for the Panthers after taking over the job on an interim basis mid-season. He replaced Frank Reich after the latter was fired just 11 games into his tenure with the Panthers. Tabor went 1-5 in his six games as the boss. He has 13 years of experience as a special teams coordinator and should land that gig again somewhere else in the league if the Panthers pass on him for their head coaching vacancy.
