    Commanders re-signed EDGE Efe Obada.
Obada appeared in three games as a rotational pass-rusher for the Commanders last year. He suffered multiple fractures in his lower leg in Week 11 and missed the remainder of the season. Re-signing Obada this early in the offseason suggests the Commanders are comfortable with how his recovery is progressing. He should be back for a part-time role in 2024.
  • WAS Defensive End #97
The Athletic’s Ben Standig reports Commanders EDGE Efe Obada underwent surgery to “address multiple lower leg fractures” on Sunday.
The team hasn’t confirmed it, but this will likely be a season-ender for Obada, who is set to hit free agency in 2024. The 31-year-old pass rusher was carted off in the first quarter of Sunday’s loss to the Giants and was ruled out soon after. Obada has 15 career sacks over six seasons and will likely compete for a roster spot on a team next season.
  • WAS Defensive End #97
Commanders EDGE Efe Obada (leg) was carted off the field in the first quarter of Week 11’s contest against the Giants.
According to the sideline report, it’s a fractured leg for Obada. Obada saw his leg rolled up on on the first offensive drive of the game and remained down on the field until the cart came out. Things didn’t look good on the replay, and the sideline report all but confirmed the worst. Obada has played in four games this season and tallied two tackles, There’s a good chance this is the last we see of him until 2024.
  • WAS Defensive End #97
Commanders declared DE Efe Obada, CB Christian Holmes, DE K.J. Henry, OT Trent Scott, OG Chris Paul, TE Curtis Hodges, and WR Mitchell Tinsley inactive for Week 7 against the Giants.
Nothing of note to see here, as all fantasy relevant players for the Commanders are available in their divisional matchup against the Giants.
  • WAS Defensive End #97
Commanders re-signed EDGE Efe Obada to a one-year contract.
It’s worth “up to” $3 million. The baseline could be far, far lower. A product of the league’s international pathway program, Obada has only been in the league five seasons but is already 30 years old. He is maxed out as a situational pass rusher, one who is more space filler than difference-maker.

  • WAS Defensive End #97
Commanders signed DE Efe Obada, formerly of the Bills, to a one-year contract.
Obada has eight sacks over the past two years as a rotational rush lineman. It’s a rare indirect trade as Obada will likely replace Tim Settle, who signed with the Bills in free agency. The soon-to-be 29-year-old has some pass-rush juice and could pick up another handful of sacks on what looks to be a stacked defensive line.

  • WAS Defensive End #97
The Panthers did not tender restricted free agent DE Efe Obada, making him a free agent.
29 next month, Obada made the NFL out of Nigeria and went on to post a career-high 5.5 sacks last season in Carolina. He entered 2020 with two sacks to his name. Obada has appeared in 42 games over the last three seasons and should latch on somewhere as a reserve.

  • WAS Defensive End #97
Panthers signed DE Efe Obada to a one-year contract extension.
Without a deal in place, Obada would have become an exclusive rights free agent in March. A Nigeria native who got his start playing semi-professionally in London before latching onto the Panthers’ practice squad in 2017, Obada totaled 24 tackles over 306 defensive snaps this past season.
  • WAS Defensive End #97
Panthers re-signed DE Efe Obada to a one-year contract.
Obada was going to be an exclusive rights free agent this offseason, so it was either sign with the Panthers or sit out the season. Obada, of course, will continue to develop for Carolina after playing 187 snaps in 2018.
