Warfield was at meetings on Monday and should be at practice all week.

If convicted, Warfield could also be subject to a suspension by the NFL as a repeat offender.

The Chiefs defense needs Warfield in there Monday night.

A veteran cornerback or three in New England could get cut in training camp, and Warfield is a good candidate because he didn’t get a signing bonus. He’s wearing No. 23, Duane Starks’ jersey from 2005.

He will also likely be suspended by the league. The process will take some time, so expect Warfield in the lineup Sunday.

He’ll probably serve 10 days in jail. Warfield was the only competent member of the Kansas City secondary this season. He should be back with the team.

“Oh sure, there’s competition,” Vermeil said. “Dexter McCleon isn’t going to surrender. And I don’t know how long it’s going to take Eric Warfield to get back to where he was. The last game he played (in the preseason), he didn’t play very well.”

The Chiefs could use the help in the secondary. We’d be surprised if Warfield didn’t start, because Dexter McCleon has been poor.

Warfield is not expected to be thrust into significant playing time right away and coach Dick Vermeil said yesterday that he may not even suit up Sunday.
