49ers re-sign Tony Jerod-Eddie

The 49ers opted not to tender defensive lineman Tony Jerod-Eddie as a restricted free agent, but he’ll remain with the 49ers and they reportedly won’t be paying more than the $1.671 salary he would have been due under the tender.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Jerod-Eddie will return to the team on a one-year deal worth $1.3 million.

Jerod-Eddie joined the team as an undrafted free agent in 2012 and spent most of his rookie year on the practice squad before making his regular season debut late in the season. He’s played in 47 games with the team over the last three seasons and has given the defense 63 tackles and an interception over that span.

Jerod-Eddie joins Glenn Dorsey, Quinton Dial, Ian Williams, Arik Armstead and Tank Carradine as options to play on the defensive line. Williams re-signed with the 49ers last month, but continued leg and ankle problems led to a five-year deal getting sliced down to one year.
