49ers president Jed York isn’t wasting any time starting his general manager search.

Matt Maiocco reports York interviewed former Panthers and Rams executive Tony Softli on Tuesday. Hiring someone like Softli that oversaw the struggling Rams would be a hard sell.
“Everything went well and I’m excited about the opportunity,” Softli told Maiocco.

A report in San Francisco Tuesday indicated York has Jim Harbaugh and Jon Gruden are atop York’s wishlist of coaches, although York said the team’s general manager will choose the coach.
