Agent says Donald Driver is dropping no hints

Several of you have shared with us an intriguing Twitter message from Green Bay receiver Donald Driver. The Dancing With The Stars finalist has been the subject of much speculation as to whether, come September, he’ll be featured on Playing With The Pack Or If Not The Pack The Dolphins.

“Hello everyone,” Driver said. “I’m a packer for life. It will never change. Go Pack Go!!!!” (In the interests of accuracy, Driver indeed used exactly four exclamation points. Not three. Or five. But four.)

Instead of speculating on whether this means that Driver has been told he’ll be cut or whether he has signed a new contract, I asked Driver’s agent, Jordan Woy, whether there have been any developments.

“The Packers have always wanted Donald back and we have always planned on him playing there,” Woy told PFT via email. “He has been busy with the DWTS show and the team knows that. I discussed deal structure with the team a while ago and we will work out the details once Donald returns to Green Bay.”

No, basically, nothing has been decided, yet.

Driver is due to earn $2.6 million in base salary this season. The bigger potential obstacle is that, if he slides too far down the depth chart, it will be hard to justify keeping him over a youngster who would play special teams.

The fact that Driver bailed on a large chunk of the Packers’ offseason program to appear on a reality show likely won’t help.
