When cornerback Antonio Cromartie went down with a left knee injury in the Jets’ 31-10 win over the Browns last Sunday, there were fears that the team would lose him for the rest of the season.
Those fears were not realized once Cromartie had an MRI, however. Cromartie hyperextended his knee, but didn’t tear any of the ligaments that would have brought his return to the Jets to an early end. The news was encouraging enough that the Jets didn’t even rule him out of this weekend’s game against the Colts.
That decision could be coming in the next couple of days, though. Cromartie missed a second day of practice on Thursday and he said earlier this week that he won’t play if he doesn’t feel like he can go full speed. Missing practices during the week doesn’t provide much confidence that he’ll be 100 percent come Monday night, but we’ll see what happens on Friday.
Marcus Williams would likely fill in for Cromartie on the outside of the defense against the Colts, who may be without wide receiver T.Y. Hilton in Week Two.
