ESPN.com’s NFL home page continues to lead with a headline that the 49ers are interested in cornerback Pacman Jones, even if 49ers de facto G.M. Trent Baalke has told Mike Sando of ESPN.com that the 49ers aren’t interested.
But that’s not the only current discrepancy among ESPN reports.
On Friday, ESPN.com’s Len Pasquarelli reported (via ESPN’s Adam Schefter) that the Raiders were willing to trade cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha to the Eagles as part of a deal for Donovan McNabb. On Saturday morning, however, ESPN’s John Clayton said of the Raiders during a segment on SportsCenter, “They’re not gonna trade Nnamdi Asomugha.”
So how is this happening? Maybe the NFL news-gathering-and-organizing operation at ESPN is too big to keep these things straight. But if that’s the case, maybe the NFL news-gathering-and-organizing operation at ESPN is simply too big.
