Brett Favre’s receiving corps for his first regular season game as a member of the Vikings may not feature a lot of familiar faces.
Bernard Berrian remained limited in practice on Thursday and hasn’t been able to go full speed since injuring his hamstring in the team’s first preseason game. Berrian has thus far declined to say if he thinks he’ll be able to go on Sunday and the team won’t have to put an official label on his chances until after practice on Sunday.
Berrian’s injury has limited the amount of time he’s had to work with Favre, something the quarterback admitted could be troublesome come gametime.
“I think it would be foolish to say that we’re on the same page,” Favre said. “Some ways, it’s similar to what happened last year when I got to New York with Laveranues (Coles). He had a torn quad. I really didn’t work with him until the first week, and I can remember playing at Miami and missing him on a couple of throws. I wasn’t really sure where he was going to be, but as the season progressed, I got more confident in what he was doing.”
If Berrian can’t go, the Vikings would be very thin at receiver on Monday. Sidney Rice fronts a group that includes rookie Percy Harvin, Jaymar Johnson, Darius Reynaud and Thursday signee Greg Lewis.
