In a development roughly as surprising as the sun rising in the East this morning, Patriots coach Bill Belichick chose not to address guard Logan Mankins’ trade request on Tuesday.
“It’s between the player and the club,” Belichick said more than once when asked about Mankins’ situation in a variety of ways by the enterprising Patriots media horde.
The Patriots coach also broke out the “focus on the players that are here” answer. You can be sure Mankins’ strong words on Tuesday got the attention of Belichick, but we won’t know his true reaction unless another inside-the-Patriots book comes out in a few years.
