Bills Taking Wait-And-See Approach With Peters

The Buffalo Bills remain in a holding pattern with disgruntled Pro Bowl offensive tackle Jason Peters as they’ve been unable to work out a long-term contract extension with him, and no trade scenario appears to be in the offing. Besides team officials fielding several questions about players’ off-field issues during the Bills’ draft luncheon today, Peters’ unresolved status was a major topic of conversation, according to the team’s official Web site. Peters held out last year and is under contract for two more years. “Obviously, we’ve talked about this ad nauseam, but we value Jason greatly as a player,” Bills General Manager Russ Brandon said. “He’s a player that we developed and signed to a contract early in his career. “Obviously, Jason has done a great job and played very well. At the conclusion of the year, we talked to Jason and we’d obviously like to have him on this team and will continue to work with his representatives to get something done.” Brandon was noncommittal on whether the team needs to have a definitive answer as far as where things are going wth Peters prior to the NFL Draft. “We’re going to see how the situation plays out with Jason,” Brandon said. “We value him. We want him on this football team. We expect him to be on this football team and we will continue to work with him and his representatives.”
