There’s not much available on the starting quarterback market.

And now, even the backups are getting pretty picked-over.

The Chargers announced they had brought back quarterback Kellen Clemens on a one-year deal to back up Philip Rivers.

Clemens has been with the Chargers the last two seasons, throwing nine passes. Originally a second-round pick by the Jets, he’s made a pretty nice living for a guy with 21 career starts and none since 2013.

With guys such as Matt Schaub (Atlanta) and Matt Cassel (Tennessee) finding work today, and Matt Moore visiting Dallas tomorrow, the guys who hold the clipboards are flying off the shelves.

We await further word on their spiritual leader, unrestricted free agent and Clipboard Jesus himself, Charlie Whitehurst.
