Colt McCoy could miss another game

Nearly two weeks after being knocked into next week, Browns quarterback Colt McCoy still hasn’t been cleared to play. As a result, coach Pat Shurmur said Tuesday that McCoy likely won’t play this week, when the Browns travel to Baltimore.

As a result, quarterback Seneca Wallace is expected to get a second straight start.

“At this point, more than likely he’ll be the starter, for sure,” Shurmur said of Wallace, via Tony Grossi of the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Shurmur wouldn’t discuss the symptoms that are still affecting McCoy. “I talked to him a long time,” Shurmur said. “His spirits are good. Like anybody who wants to play, he’s anxious to get out there. But he understands there’s a process he has to go through before he can play again.”

Shurmur isn’t ready to rule McCoy out for the regular-season finale against the Steelers. But the Browns should take no chances with McCoy in a meaningless game, especially since the Browns continue to be criticized (whether they like it or not) over their decision to allow McCoy to re-enter the game against the Steelers only two plays after taking linebacker James Harrison’s helmet to his jaw.
