Cribbs discussions ongoing

Cleveland Browns wide receiver/kick returner Joshua Cribbs’ request for a new contract has reportedly triggered a pair of conference calls this week between his agent and team officials.

According to Jason La Canfora of NFL.com, Cribbs has also been scheduled for an in-person meeting regarding his contract.

Cribbs has four years left on his deal and hasn’t decided whether he’ll show up for training camp even though he’s under contract and would be subject to $17,000 in fines for each day that he misses.

Per the report, Cribbs won’t make up his mind until after meeting with the team.

The Pro Bowl return man wants to restructure a six-year, $6.7 million deal that includes $2 million in guaranteed money.

Cribbs is only due to make $620,000 in 2009, according to NFL Players Association records.

Cribbs has been hoping for a deal that approaches Chicago Bears wide receiver/kick returner Devin Hester’s four-year, $40 million contract that includes $15 million guaranteed.
