Danieal Manning will participate in Bears’ workouts

Bears restricted free agent safety Danieal Manning hasn’t been working out with his teammates at Halas Hall in the team’s offseason conditioning program, but he will participate going forward, starting today.

That doesn’t mean he’s happy with being tendered at the original-round level or with the $1.176 million salary that goes with that tender. In fact, he still hasn’t signed the tender. But agent Russel Hicks says Manning will sign an injury waiver and start working out with the team.

“It was his decision. He just said, ‘I’m in Chicago, over the weekend.’ He said he was going in,” Hicks told Sean Jensen of the Chicago Sun-Times. “I was like, ‘All right.’

Hicks said he expects Manning to play in Chicago in 2010 and sign a contract within the next couple of months.

“Unless they trade, he’s going to be with the Bears next season,” Hicks said. “I think we’ll get something done. I’m confident we’ll get something before [June].”
