Texans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins made what sure looked like a business decision last night, watching at a safe distance while the Colts recovered Ryan Fitzpatrick’s game-losing fumble.

And with a few hours to reflect, Hopkins took the blame for the play.

I’ll take the blame,” Hopkins said, via John McClain of the Houston Chronicle. “I think I made the biggest mistake by hesitating.

“If I didn’t think it was an incomplete pass, I probably could have got it. I thought it was incomplete, and I hesitated. By the time I got to it, their guy got on it.

“The game doesn’t come down to one play [but], I’ll take the blame.”

Which is gracious of him, to take the blame, while pointing out it wasn’t really his fault. And the fact that there wasn’t an eligible receiver other than him within 10 yards of the play makes you wonder who he thought it was being thrown to.

Perhaps he’ll be of more use to Clemson tomorrow, when he watches his old school play Louisville.

“I think it’ll be good to be a fan so I can go out there and point some fingers,” Hopkins said with a laugh.

Perhaps if one of the Tigers hangs back instead of diving into a pile to try to win a game, he’ll know how it feels.
