The Panthers are on the verge of calling Tshimanga Biakabutuka.
The bad news got worse for the Panthers in a 28-7 deficit to the Ravens, as running back DeAngelo Williams is out for the rest of the game with an ankle injury.
Williams tried to return after leaving the field in the second quarter, but will be unable to finish the game.
That leaves the Panthers’ running game in the hands of Darrin Reaves and Tauren Poole, both of whom were called up from the practice squad in the last few weeks.
Jonathan Stewart is inactive with a knee injury (as is the fabled Fozzy Whittaker), and Mike Tolbert is on IR/designated for return with a broken leg.
So at the moment, the Panthers have problems Steve Smith couldn’t fix.
