Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant made news by missing a treatment session and at least one meeting this week. But he strongly disputes a new report that he has missed a lot more meetings than that.
Via Jon Machota of the Dallas Morning News, Bryant strongly disagreed with the report from Adam Schefter of ESPN that Bryant has missed at least 20 and as many as 40 meetings during his time in Dallas.
“I missed 40 meetings?” Bryant said. “I owned up to the only one I missed.”
Added Bryant: “Clearly I’m Americas most hated. None of my teammates would say anything like that. Everything between us is nothing but love.”
It’s hard to believe Bryant has missed that many meetings, in part because he hired David Wells to ensure that Bryant would be where he needs to be, when he needs to be there. Besides, if Bryant had missed that many meetings before he signed his long-term deal in July 2015, the Cowboys would have been leaking that information in order to squeeze him into not demanding more money.
