Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant missed another game on Sunday as he continues to recover from a broken bone in his foot, but he wound up in the spotlight anyway when he and defensive end Greg Hardy were shown arguing with each other on the sideline while Hardy was running wild after Giants wideout Dwayne Harris returned a kickoff for a touchdown.
Hardy refused to talk about it after the game, but Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and coach Jason Garrett both downplayed Hardy’s behavior, which included shoving other players and special teams coach Rich Bisaccia, after the game. Bryant played a similar tune when he was asked about the heated conversation.
“There is no issue,” Bryant said, via ESPN.com. “That’s just football. People want to make nothing into something, especially when we lose. That’s just football.”
Bryant also discussed when he might be able to be part of the story on the field. There was some hope he would return in Week Seven, but never practiced in the days leading up to the game. Bryant said he “felt real good” working out before his teammates faced the Giants and that he’s hopeful that he can take the next step when the Cowboys face the Seahawks next weekend.
“I don’t honestly think that it has to be all the way 100 percent for me to get back on the field,” Bryant said, via the Dallas Morning News. “That’s my choice, we’re going to see about it. If I can go, I’m going to go.”
The Cowboys resume their practice schedule on Wednesday and Bryant will likely have to be a participant in some or all of this week’s workouts before he gets the green light.
