Linebacker Elvis Dumervil’s return to action for the Ravens earlier this season didn’t really work out as planned as the veteran was forced back out of the lineup after two games due to ongoing issues with his surgically-repaired foot.
Dumervil’s missed the last four games while trying to get everything back in order and it looks like this may be the week for him to take the last step back into the lineup. Dumervil has been a full participant in practice on both Wednesday and Thursday, leaving him “feeling really close to where I’m normally at” and hopeful that he can part of the plan to slow down the Cowboys offense this weekend.
“I feel really good. I feel confident,” Dumervil said, via ESPN.com. “I’m happy to be a part of a No. 1 defense. Hopefully, I can be an extra arsenal.”
The Ravens head into Sunday’s game with the top run defense in the league and the overall play of the unit is a big reason why the team is 5-4 to this point in the season. A healthy return from Dumervil should help the team remain strong on that side of the ball, although the memory of his last return means it can’t be taken for granted.
