Apparently, the interest the Falcons had in A.J. Hawk was real.

Per a tweet from his agent, the veteran linebacker has signed with the Falcons, giving them a solid fill-in for a position wracked by injuries.

The 32-year-old Hawk was needed after the Falcons lost Sean Weatherspoon for the season with a torn Achilles last week, with three other linebackers hurt as well.

Hawk was able to fill in well for the Bengals last year when injuries descended upon them, starting 11 games and playing all 16.

The Falcons are 30th in the league in total defense, but having the top-ranked offense in the league helps keep that from being a disaster.
