HASSELBECK APOLOGIZES FOR POST-GAME RANT

Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck, who made some curious post-game comments on Sunday including a call for Cardinals players make an involuntary contribution to the Human Fund, apologized on Monday for his remarks. “They played hard, they played physical, but they played within the rules and with class,” Hasselbeck said. “I regret saying that; in fact I hope nobody gets fined.” The person who should be fined is whoever allowed Hasselbeck to talk to the media at a time when he apparently was suffering from an acute case of bumpus-on-the-nogginus. “It probably wasn’t the right time for me to be in front of a microphone or talk to you guys,” Hasselbeck said. “I needed a couple hours and maybe a nap. [Editor’s note: Yeah, it’s always wise after getting your head banged to the point of incoherence to grab 40 winks.] It’s hard to come in and answer questions. I don’t know what it looked like. I haven’t seen it on tape. But it probably didn’t look too good.” Then again, Hasselbeck says that he didn’t have a concussion. So what the heck is the explanation? Grey Goose in the Gatorade? (In an unrelated development, Maurice Clarett says that he plans to sign with the Seahawks after he gets out of jail.) Anyway, here’s the only video of the press conference currently available on YouTube.

Sure, he doesn’t seem like himself. But it’s not nearly as embarrassing as this one.
