Indianapolis schools will open late Monday

The next best thing to a snow day when I was in middle school (last year) was a two-hour delay.

A two-hour delay after watching your team win a world championship would be even sweeter.

Perhaps feeling peer pressure from some New Orleans school cancellations for the Monday after the Super Bowl, the Indianapolis Public Schools have announced that they are imposing a two-hour school delay for Monday, February 8.

The change isn’t exactly with the kiddies in mind. In 2007, so many bus drivers called in sick the next morning that classes were canceled.

The delay will allow bus drivers to show up for work at 7:30 a.m. rather than 5:30 a.m.

Most public New Orleans schools are actually staying open, while many private and Catholic schools are closing.
