Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles emerged from last Sunday’s loss to the Cardinals with a tender knee and ankle and things didn’t improve enough for him to practice with the team on Wednesday.
Charles was one of four players held out of Kansas City’s first practice of the week, although coach Andy Reid expressed confidence that Charles would be good to go in time to face the Raiders.
“I think he’ll be OK but he’s going to go through treatment,” Reid said, via the team’s website. “We’ll just see.”
Knile Davis would take over for Charles if he’s not able to go.
Defensive end Allen Bailey is still in the concussion protocol so he joined Charles, tight end Anthony Fasano and linebacker Tamba Hali on the sideline Wednesday. Fasano and Hali are both bothered by knee injuries.
