Former Seattle safety Jeron Johnson tweeted today that he has signed with Washington.
Johnson has spent his entire career in Seattle after signing with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent out of Boise State in 2011. Last year he played in 15 games, with one start.
Although Johnson hasn’t played a lot on defense, he may get more playing time in the secondary in Washington. And he’ll undoubtedly improve the special teams; he was the Seahawks’ leading tackler on kick coverage last season.
Washington has made bolstering its defense a high priority in free agency. Cornerback Chris Culliver, defensive tackle Stephen Paea and defensive tackle Terrance Knighton signed in Washington as well.
