JETS-49ERS ONE-LINERS

49ers QB Shaun Hill completed 28-of-39 passes for 285 yards and two touchdowns to lead his team to victory. Said 49ers TE Vernon Davis, “As soon as they started talking trash, that’s when I knew they were getting mad. On one play, No. 92 (Shaun Ellis) just came after me and choked me. We knew they were getting frustrated.’' The Jets forced five fumbles in the game but only recovered one of them. OT Joe Staley fell on one of the other four to score the first 49ers touchdown of the game. DeShaun Foster and Frank Gore’s combined 30 carries for 87 yards aren’t eye-popping stats, but the 49ers RBs helped the team hold the ball for 40 minutes. A holding penalty on Jets DB James Ihedigbo nullified KR Leon Washington’s 99-yard touchdown return and a 21-17 Jets lead. Said Jets LB David Bowens, “A lot of things hurt us - penalties, we couldn’t get off the field on third down - things like that hurt us.” Jets DE Shaun Ellis, normally a captain, wasn’t on the field for the coin toss in his first game since a marijuana arrest came to light. The 49ers honored former DE Fred Dean by presenting him with his Hall of Fame ring during halftime. Said Jets NT Kris Jenkins, “When people didn’t believe in us, we didn’t listen to folks. Honestly, right now it looks like when people are believing in us, we’re not listening to them, either.”
