In a Monday Night Football game that featured an ugly first half and a thrilling second half, the New York Jets beat the Minnesota Vikings, 29-20.
The game was clinched when Vikings quarterback Brett Favre threw an interception that Dwight Lowery returned 26 yards for a touchdown with 90 seconds remaining.
Favre hit Percy Harvin for two fourth-quarter touchdown passes, but he also missed a wide-open Harvin on the play before that Lowery interception on a pass that could have put the Vikings into range for a game-winning field goal.
In his first game back with the Vikings after being traded away from New England last week, Randy Moss caught four passes for 81 yards and a touchdown. But Moss’s presence wasn’t enough to stop the Vikings from falling to 1-3.
The Vikings have only beaten the Jets once, in 1975. The teams have played nine times and the Jets have won eight.
It wasn’t always a pretty game for the Jets, but with the hard-fought win they improved to 4-1.
