Geno Smith’s first visit to Lambeau Field is going very well so far.
Smith ran the ball in from a yard out to cap the first Jets possession of the game and hit Eric Decker for a 29-yard touchdown pass on the second to lift the Jets to a 14-0 lead with a little more than six minutes off the clock in Green Bay. The first touchdown was set up by a botched snap between Aaron Rodgers and center Corey Linsley on the first play of the game that was recovered by Sheldon Richardson in the Green Bay red zone.
The rookie is making his second start at center in place of the injured J.C. Tretter and was seen in conversation with Rodgers and coaches on the sideline after the fumble. Sacks by Quinton Coples and Demario Davis ended the second Packers possession and the offensive line has to get things under control for the Packers to turn around the ugly start to the game.
