Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel has a Super Bowl-winning coach as a tutor before training camp.
Manziel is working with Jon Gruden, the former coach turned ESPN analyst, according to ESPN.
This isn’t the first time the two have worked together. Manziel worked with Gruden before last year’s draft, as part of Gruden’s “QB Camp” feature on ESPN. Gruden came away impressed with Manziel’s talent and said that if he were coaching, he’d like to coach Manziel.
Now Gruden is coaching Manziel, in a way. Whether Gruden gets any results out of Manziel, however, it may take some time to see. Manziel’s disastrous rookie year has resulted in him being firmly placed at No. 2 on the Browns’ quarterback depth chart, behind Josh McCown. From all accounts Manziel is working hard to improve this offseason, but that work may not show up on the field for quite some time.
