After making headlines for stealing a bottle of “Guilty” cologne and two pairs of underwear, the hard part for Joseph Randle was looking at his teammates in the eye.
The Cowboys running back addressed his teammates today, and apologized for creating a distraction.
“I really just made a huge mistake,” Randle said, via Charean Williams of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “I know it’s big-time consequences for things in life. I disappointed a lot of people who really care about me, like my brothers on the team, coaches around here and this whole organization, people who have supported me, my family, my dad. I let a lot of people down. I’m just going to try my best to make it up to them and just do whatever I’ve got to do to get past this.”
Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said the team would fine him “a significant amount,” which a source said could be up to $30,000. But he won’t be suspended.
“It’s the biggest mistake I’ve ever made in my life,” Randle said. “I’ve never gotten in any kind of trouble in my whole life. This is just something I’ll have to learn from and move forward.”
And the lesson is this: When you need clean drawers and cologne, make sure you pay for them first.
