The Panthers report to camp next Thursday and they expect to have wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin on the field without limitations when they hold their first practice.
Benjamin missed time this spring with hamstring issues that hampered him in all phases of the team’s offseason program. On Thursday, however, Ron Rivera said, via Steve Reed of the Associated Press, that the team expects Benjamin to be full go when training camp gets underway.
Rivera suggested last month that losing some weight might help Benjamin avoid further problems with his hamstrings. General Manager Dave Gettleman disagreed with the coach when he called concerns about Benjamin’s weight “much ado about nothing,” but there’s little doubt that the Panthers will be looking at whatever they think can ensure Benjamin is on the field to catch Cam Newton’s passes for the entire 2015 season.
Rivera said that tight end Brandon Williams and cornerback D’Andre Presley will be limited as camp gets underway. Williams is bothered by a groin injury while Presley is dealing with a calf problem.
