Lions sell out Thanksgiving game

A day after they won an unexpectedly thrilling game against the Cleveland Browns, the Detroit Lions have more good news: They’ve sold out their Thanksgiving home game.

John Niyo of the Detroit News tweets that the traditional Turkey Day game has been sold out, and the local TV blackout was lifted.

That’s particularly good news for the franchise as league observers increasingly question whether the Lions really deserve to host a Thanksgiving game every year. It’s a lot harder for the Lions to argue that Thanksgiving football belongs in Detroit if they can’t even fill their stadium on Thanksgiving.

But this year, despite another lousy season on the field, Detroit fans have stepped up and ensured that everyone will be able to watch the Lions while they eat their turkey.
