After bolstering their offensive line in the first round of the draft, the Detroit Lions have added a running back in the second round.
Nebraska running back Ameer Abdullah was the Lions’ pick with the 54th overall selection in the 2015 NFL draft. Abdullah should help make plays in an offense that lost running back Reggie Bush this offseason.
On Thursday night the Lions drafted guard Laken Tomlinson and also traded for guard Manny Ramirez. That should improve the middle of their line, and Abdullah should find some holes to run through.
Abdullah is good in the passing game and can make people miss in the open field, and he’ll be a good player to pair with the Lions’ starter, Joique Bell. The Lions’ offense is getting better.
