Marion Barber should play this week

On most teams, the coach gives injury updates.

For the Cowboys, the owner does. (And this is not a criticism; the more information anyone from a NFL team wants to give us, the better.)

Asked about Marion Barber’s status for Sunday’s game in Denver, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was rather optimistic:

“He did more [Wednesday] than we thought and will have expectations. . . . I bet he’s pretty aggressive out here in practice, listening to how he responded [Wednesday] and listening to these trainers, he should be able to go. I’m glad he’s looking as good as he did.”

Barber was in full pads at practice Thursday, while Felix Jones was nowhere to be found, as expected.

It sounds like Barber and Tashard Choice will split up the workload against Denver Thursday in an interesting test of conference and divisional power.

The AFC West was believed to be one of the worst divisions in football before the year, while the NFC East is generally thought of as the best.

If the Broncos win, we’ll be more inclined to agree with Matt Mosley’s assessment that the NFC East is overrated.

UPDATE: Jones also confirmed that his fellow former Razorback Felix Jones will miss Sunday’s game.
