Shortly after signing his rookie contract with the Rams, first-round defensive tackle Michael Brockers said he’s ready to get to work on changing the franchise that selected him with the 14th pick in the NFL draft.

Brockers told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that he wanted to get his contract out of the way quickly because what he’s really interested in is changing things on a team that went 2-14 last year.

I was ready to get it done,” Brockers said. “Now that I’ve got that out of the way, I can focus on football. That was the biggest part of it. . . . For the most part, I’m just focused on football right now. That’s the biggest thing about right now, getting the plays down, getting with my teammates, winning some games. I really want to turn this Rams franchise around. That’s the biggest part about it.”

It’s going to take a lot more than one player to turn the Rams around, but as the first pick of the Jeff Fisher era, Brockers knows he’s going to be a big part of making big changes in St. Louis.
