The NFL has added a lot of rules to protect quarterbacks and receivers recently. So should rules to protect running backs be next?

Not according to Falcons running back Michael Turner, who said on the Dan Patrick Show that he’s happy to keep playing football the way he’s always played football, without any new rules designed to keep running backs from taking too much punishment.

“It’s kind of hard to regulate that,” Turner said. “I just play football. I just like playing the game, playing the game the way it’s meant to be played -- hard-nosed, blue collar, do everything it takes to get the job done.”

Turner’s outlook will be appreciated by fans who think the NFL has gone overboard in dishing out penalties and fines to defensive players. Even if Turner’s hard-nosed approach to the game may end up shortening his career.
