We already knew longtime NFL center Jeff Saturday was retiring.

But now, the stage is clear for him to retire as a member of the Colts.

The Packers announced they had released Saturday this afternoon, after he spent the final of his 14 seasons with them.

Now, the Colts can sign him to a ceremonial one-day contract, so he can retire as a member of the team he spent the first 13 with.

A two-time All-Pro and six-time Pro Bowler, Saturday showed a special degree of class this year even as he was being benched late in the season, consistent with the character he displayed throughout his career.
