Panthers General Manager Dave Gettleman said he was glad he didn’t have to shop at the dollar store this offseason.

So far, he’s mostly stayed in his own driveway, however.

The Panthers have retained another one of their free agents, bringing back tight end Ed Dickson, according to Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun.

Dickson’s a solid backup behind Greg Olsen, and could contribute more in the passing game in the future.

The Panthers have also kept defensive tackles Dwan Edwards and Colin Cole, quarterback/special teamer Joe Webb, and extended Olsen’s deals.

Their only two outside buys were for a pair of guys who were cut — tackle Michael Oher and return man Ted Ginn.

That’s a solid base of business for Gettleman so far, with the market 45 minutes from opening.
